Words Don't Quite Say

I found the answers
Underneath the stack of pillows
You smiled when I asked you
About what you said just now
And I couldn't help but wonder
If it was nothing after all

Let me finish those unfinished words
I will try and say them for you

In the darkness the whispers reverberate
Under the sheets hundreds of miles away
The words don't quite flow but
That's good enough for us, tonight

I found the answer
In one of our late night conversations
You wondered if I laughed at you
For what you said just now
And I couldn't help but smile
As if it was nothing after all

Let me finish those unfinished words
I will try and say them for you

In the darkness the whispers reverberate
Under the sheets hundreds of miles away
The words don't quite flow but
That's good enough for us, tonight
