Blame Everyone For The Unsaid Disaster

It's been a good, relaxing weekend. Of course that weekend has not taken into account of the fact that I'm on monitor duty tonight, which is the second crappiest thing to do at 9.30 at night, the first being kicking a bunch of bricks barefooted.

So how was the weekend?

As always, on Saturday, I only had one lesson, and Woodling is such a funny little character. Try closing your ears and just watch him. He is the single funniest moving thing you could ever observe that is unintentionally ridiculously hilarious. If you're lucky, he could be trying to emphasise a point by raising three of his limbs into the air. Yes, two arms and a right feet, It's much funnier than it sounds here. I promise you, it is as much a distraction from Chemistry as his red herrings involving tennis and jet engines.

Then that night, we went to Ridgemount's house dance, or Sci-Fi Convention. Kamillin invited me, by the way. Thanks for that. James Lyons is a great DJ, but I'm not sure why that night his tracks kept scratching and skipping. I'm not even talking turntables scratching. I mean the fucked up kind. I enjoyed myself though. But it took a while because all I kept thinking all night was that I would've enjoyed it oh so much more if Pill was there. I enjoyed Severn Hill's house dance more even though it wasn't very good simply because Pill was there. So that made it infinitely better.

I came as Neo by the way, from The Matrix. Quite easy to go as really. Never mind that there were two more Neos and an Agent Smith around.

Today, as usual, we had the weekly Shrewsbury Bruneian Posse Brunch. Haha. Ha. It just so happened that there was Easter Sunday chapel and the Eton Fives national championship, meaning more fresh food, meaning fresh hash browns. Which in turn meant a full plate for me.

We decided to play basketball after that, only to be greeted by the sight of Ingrams running into the gym with footballs and rugby balls. Of course we reached a compromise and played against them in football.

Ah. Good times.

I fucking missed Tea. I'm starting. If I wasn't vegetarian, I could eat a horse. Haha. Not that there are any horses around.

EDIT:

But then I decided to ask Mubin for a couple of Indo Mee. Couple that with some orange juice, and you've got a simple recipe for a somewhat filling yet strangely unsatisfying dinner.

The most interesting that happened today was the Assassins duel between Geo and Leo. Geo represented Severn Hill, and Leo, Oldham's. We agreed to meet Oldham's in front of KH, where there's that pathway to the other side, near the Bursary.

The rule was that there will be 30 seconds for both duelist to run away, but there is a designated area that they cannot go outside of. After thirty seconds, the shooting starts.

There was no contest. Geo had a normal water gun. Leo had a fire extinguisher, which meant he had an obscene range, and he could go on spraying without losing pressure. Geo lost after what was maybe a couple of minutes. Too bad.

Dancing Amidst The Chaos

Finally, I have finished my phone bill, which has been bugging me for months. £678.75 it was by the end of December, and only in early March have I paid the full amount. Of course that meant I had to basically eat dust during the holidays, but I survived through. Of course my friends kept me afloat. Hahaha. Every little helps. Thanks anyways. Especially my pill.

So... Anything else?

Oh. Oh.

House dance!

It was good fun. Too bad there weren't too many people on the dance floor. Half of them just congregated in the corridors, shweffing and trying to find empty rooms to sneak into and have some, as Borat would call it, 'sexytime.' The chill-out room was essentially the make-out room. The theme, Cartoon Characters, brought out some very good costumes. Two people came as Smurfs, essentially painting their upper bodies and faces completely blue. I came as Popeye, unfortunately so did two other guys. But never mind. People said I had the best costume. Hahaha. I had Olive Oyl with me as well :D Haz (McHale) probably had the best hairdo. He came as Sonic the hedgehog, so he sprayed his hair metallic blue and spiked it up. It looked absolutely amazing.

Though Pill arrived late (which isn't her fault, really), I enjoyed the dance even before it. When she finally came, I just couldn't stop smiling. Everyone in my year in the house knew about Pill just because they kept on sneaking in and making noises when I was on the phone with her, so to finally have introduced her to everyone, I was glad everyone liked her. Even our temporary matron, Heather, said that Pill was lovely. She kept on asking me when is the next time I'll see her again.

It may not be the best house dance for most people, I did enjoy the night with Pill, and I enjoyed helping out with the preparations, and finding the costumes, and looking at the faces of the Lower Sixth when they were told they weren't coming. Muahahaha.

I still haven't got any photos up yet. Mrs Wright, who was the camerawoman for the night, has not posted the photos yet, so blame her. I may get some pre-dance photos from Lan of when we were getting ready.

This weekend I get to see Pill again :D

To Us, This Is A Truthful Tragedy

I know everyone's sulking over the fact that half-term is over, and truth be told, I'm bummed out of my mind trying to figure out how the ten days went by so fast. Damn it, it was a good half-term.

So many things happened.Urggh, I don't even know where to start.

I went to Cardiff for my cousin's 22nd birthday bash. That was awesome. Made some new friends, and had some crazy moments that was unforgettable. Hahaha. Mel, if you're reading this, thanks for inviting me :D And wow, Eric. I know you're not gonna read this, so god damn you, you lucky bastard :P

The next day we had to go to the Dorchester hotel for the BSUnion Raya thing, which wasn't too bad. I won a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates for answering the quiz, which got wiped clean before I even got on the bus.

Deylah and Desiree were two people I spent much more time together than I would have thought. Never mind they called me Mu Mu (huh?) most of the time. Hahaha. We stayed up late doing practically nothing telling each other we should go to sleep. That was stupid, I guess :P And oh, when Farah wasn't in London, Deylah was my Sainsbury companion. Hahahaha.

I'll post some pictures of half-term soon. Wait for it.

Ironies In Indefinite Intervals

She sees it. The swirl of colours, just above her, strokes of bold, primary tones. It is only a dream, she assures herself. Yet she has never felt anything so real before. The way the gust of wind just brush past her. The blinding explosion of colours. And the sheer confusion of it all.

This is one of those 'real' dreams, she says to herself. It is a dream. It must be.

What else can it be?

The ground shakes and trembles as suddenly a ball of light crashes onto the earth. The trees shiver in terror and the birds leave their nests in fright as more descended from the sky. The surface crumbles into pieces, cracks travelling from one end of the horizon to the other. The sky grew darker as the light fade and descend into destruction.

In horror she retreats under a fallen tree which has been overgrown with mushrooms. Cowering, she starts praying for her life, wishing to herself this is just a nightmare.

Now she waits for the chaos to stop. She waits and she waits, but the longer she does, the more violent the tremors become, and as the sky turns into complete darkness, she cries herself to sleep, the ground still shaking, and the light and the colours no longer there.

------------------------------------------

It's half-term. Well, almost. Still have two(-ish) kessons to go, and house-singing to go to. For unison we're doing four songs from Les Miserables, and for the part song we're doing Bohemian Rhapsody, which looks and sounds absolutely incredible. Our unison isn't bad either. The sheer energy and volume, and the pace of the piano and the urgency of the voices. I think we're in for a chance for top spot.

Tomorrow we're going to London. Looking forward to that. Looks like I'm not going to Manchester to see Capdown after all. Oh well. I didn't get a ticket for the Dorchester raya thing, and I'm quite pissed off. Well, not really, but just a little bit disappointed. One thing left to do is go to my cousin's 22nd birthday in Cardiff. That is if I still have enough dosh by then. Heh.

Underneath The Overwhelming Arching Skies

I'm in London for the weekend, and oh, for Raya. Even though I had fun the first day, I haven't exactly felt the 'true' spirit of this whole Raya thing. I don't think I've ever felt that.

Fuck it. At the end of the day I don't think it felt any different from any day, except that there's more people here, and everyone's dressed up, and there's free food. Not that the food applies to me. The food at the High Commission was all prepared for carnivores. Meat, chicken, mutton.. What can a vegetarian like me do beside wait till it's all over and go to Subway and get a veggie patty? Haha.

I think I might need to fall in love all over again. Haha. Ha. That's what I need to cheer myself up :P I've been sinking in and out of my nihilism more frequently at the moment. The only thing keeping me sane is the crazy things I get to do with my housemates night in and night out. Random, pointless things. It's ironic that to forget that life is pointless is by doing completely pointless acts of stupidity.

Irony is the word of my life. Irony and contradiction, to be exact. And sometimes incoherence. I often find myself being unable to articulate my thoughts, to words and writing. It's so fucking frustrating.

Lasting Nights, Blazing Seconds

Well, I’m one day late of the promised Sunday update on the second performance of our house play. Sorry about that, I think. Haha. You guys aren’t bothered anyway, I can tell. If my blog isn’t updated, you’ll just have a thousand different alternative blogs to read. Haha. Ha.

For starters, we performed to a very small audience. A modest thirty compared to Friday night’s two hundred. But that proved to work in our favour. It was a very good audience, much more responsive. It was satisfying to perform in front of them. They laughed at every joke, they appreciated every sentiment. They loved it. We loved it. I have to say, I have never felt so satisfied after any kind of performance in my life. I was literally bowing at the end with the biggest grin on my face that my lips could manage. I think because of the small size of the audience, we felt less pressure than the night before, and therefore weren’t afraid to experiment and just went for it. Everyone projected their voices better. Everyone interacted with each other much, much, oh so much better than Friday night’s. We articulated our lines better. Everything was just done better. We didn’t skip four pages like on Friday. There were no major cock-ups at all. Just plain lovely. Smooth sailing all the way.

Geo did his opening scene by replacing the phrase ‘English women’ with ‘English cunt,’ which was obviously much more offensive. Actually in the actual play, it was ‘cunt,’ not ‘women,’ but it got changed to try and not offend anyone. But a few minutes before the curtain opened, I said to Geo, “Are you gonna say cunt instead of women this time?” because he did contemplate it before.

“Do you think I should?” he replied.

“Go for it. If they get angry, just say you forgot to censor yourself and used the original lines instead,” was my stupid suggestion.

And so he did. I almost burst out laughing on stage. I had to control myself from giggling in front of the audience. I could feel the others were giggling off stage.

But then we found out Matt – our director – was holding his face in his hands not being able to believe that Geo had just said the word ‘cunt’ on stage. Geo quickly used the ‘excuse’ we had planned. A few people were sceptical. They had a right to be. But only Matt and our housemaster, Mr Vickers, were genuinely upset. Even the Headmaster didn’t get angry. He congratulated Geo’s performance on the way out. No one knew I was the one who made the final push to convince Geo to say it on stage. He was thinking about doing it, but he wasn’t sure before. And he did almost get into trouble for it. But since the play went so well – and the audience had no problem with it, in fact they loved it – Matt and Mr Vickers didn’t get so angry with him afterwards. He could’ve easily got suspended, or at the least, got given Headmaster’s Detention. Now I can just laugh thinking about it. The harm it would do to my conscience if he got to any kind of trouble.

And oh, thanks for Adi and Hanif for coming to see the play that night. I really appreciate it. Means a lot to me.

The after-party was okay. The lads had some Carling and Kroneunberg. I just had some Coke along with the third-formers. Haha. We had slices of pizza, a lot of Pringles, and a hundred other kinds of junk food. It went on till half past 12, after which we went to bed, to officially end what has been a genuinely fun and engaging few weeks in theatre.
