Futuristic Demons

I think this Mach 5 looks cool rotating over Hamley's. Hahaha. I still haven't seen the film though.

Anyway, I've delayed my flight back to Brunei for one more day. It's now on July 7th. So I'll be in Brunei 10am on July 8th.

The temporary 'singletons' went out on Wednesday for a Singles' Day Out, since our partners were still all in school doing, well, school stuff. We had a buffet lunch at Pizza Hut just beside Primark, and then we went shopping. It was a good laugh.

I've been watching 'Back To The Future' again, from the start. So far I've revisited Part 1 and Part 2. Part 3 will come soon enough.

'Back To The Future is one of my favourite trilogies ever, probably only second to 'Lord Of The Rings.' I'm not even sure. BTTF is more fun than Rings, definitely. But Rings is so, so epic. It's a masterpiece of storytelling, special effects, and acting.

I want the Nike Airs McFly wore in Part 2, they look amazing. Power-lacing, what an idea. But then after about 23 years, it doesn't look like Nike will ever release it for production. But hey, this is the closest thing to that. And damn, it's pretty damn close. This is the Nike HyperDunk McFly 2015

And this is the one in the film:

They both look wicked. I want a pair. Now.

Oh well.

I can't wait to live in London. Fingers crossed.

I'm still waiting for Pill.

A Matter Of Materials

Chemistry re-takes. Over and done with.

It was quite an easy paper. Or rather, papers. I quite enjoyed doing the Foundation bit. If I didn't get an A on that, I must have a really distorted, skewed understanding of Chemistry. Hahaha. Organics... Urm... I'm not sure. I guess it's either borderline A or B. And no, I'm not superstitious, so I'm not afraid of jinxing myself. No touch-wood or anything like that. But what I am afraid of is when I confidently predict my own grades there's always a possibility I'm grossly wrong and I have to eat my words through a funnel.

After finishing the paper, we went back to the house and decided to go and grab a coffee in town. It was me, Clive, Lowco, Fudge and Sam who went. Sam drives, so we lazily parked just outside the Quarry near the church and walked the rest to Starbucks. But hey, it's nearly lunchtime, so Starbucks was full and we ended up at Costa's.

The thing I love about Costa is that when they say "medium" coffee they actually mean "massively gigantic cup but there's a bigger one called 'large'." I mean, it's not as much a cup but a bowl a mocha I was having yesterday. And the sandwiches are nice and hot. I think I should've gone for the Frescato option, but oh well.

We got back to school just in time for lunch, but we didn't go to KH.

Then Kam said to me on Google Chat if I wanted to go to town, so I answered, "why not watch a film too?" So we did. And we also brought Mubin along. Indiana Jones it was. And not bad. I thought it was a good action film, filled with funny one-liners and nostalgic references.

There was a blatant reference to Damien Hirst's diamond skull, which was quite funny, but somehow I felt like an arse laughing to it on my own. It's when Indie says "I saw a crystal skull once at the British Museum. Good craftsmanship, but that was it." That was a public-held view of Damien Hirst's skull, that the craftsmanship was excellent and painstakingly done, but its artistic value was nil. To be honest, I'm not a fan of Damien Hirst. Maybe it's the commercial aspect of it. I'm not sure.

Here's Damien Hirst's skull:

It's beautiful, flashy and certainly expensive (£50m in fact), but that's it. You don't feel anything from it. It doesn't draw you in, it doesn't provoke you. It's almost like an ineffective piece of jewellery, which at least pulls you in and makes you want to have it. This, well... I won't even want it on my mantelpiece or as a paperweight.

Now this is one of my favourite paintings. Geo showed it to me because he was doing his Art course on the artist. It's by Georg Baselitz:

It's a painting of a boy masturbating, if you didn't notice it already. What I like about it is that it's surreal and real at the same time. The boy's expression seems to be of both nothingness and pleasure at the same time. The whole painting also embodies a certain comical quality to it. And the brush strokes are unique, which I guess is due to the fact that he paints his paintings upside down.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do today.

Hovering Under The Bridge

I'm in London right now enjoying my half-term, hence the lack of updates the past week. Yes, if I still had quota on my 3G, I would've certainly updated more often. But as it turns out, I don't.

So Friday was the last day of school. Well, of lessons anyway for us the Upper Sixth, most of which will be off to University, or having a gap year.

The last day was certainly a very good laugh. Lunch was just hilarious. We as Upper Sixth decided to make lunch a fancy dress party. Just like that. The theme was Prep school, and this was meant to symbolise us coming full circle, back to the youthful adolescent childhood and early teenagehood when most of us first stepped into Shrewsbury School.

Of course this resulted in some very wacky lunch-time fashion. A few guys came in wearing really tight, really short school shorts. Ties were either worn very, very long, or very very short. Some wore colourful caps, some wore trousers that only came to their knees. Of course this doesn't sound very impressive read on a blog, but believe me, when about 200 sixth formers walk around KH (our cafeteria) wearing tight trousers and the third formers' clothes, it's all very surreal. I wore a tweed jacket, a bright blue shirt with red horizontal and vertical stripes, trousers that came to my knee, and striped socks that had yellow stars. Not surprisingly, the teachers were too amused to be angry.

My last lesson was English, and though we did some typically hard work with Doc Law, someone brought champagne to bring the final lesson to an end.

The Leavers Dinner for the house was good. Speeches and jokes were made. Food was good. And the company was brilliant. Then the few who was left at the house decided to spend the remainder of the waking night lying around amd sitting on the house pitch, in darkness under the starless sky.

I have a feeling I will miss this school.

Vicious Vindaloo

Today's been a truly brilliant day. Imagine this. I was sleeping, waiting for my only lesson of the day. All this while in my humiliating state of just wearing boxers and my whole room in a complete state of mess. This is only one small part of my room. I have saved you the agony and pain of seeing the full scale of the total chaotic nature of my humble abode:

So yes, you can stop imagining me in my boxers now, you pervert. There I was, dreaming about something to do with... I can't remember. For all I know it could have been something about the Invisible Pink Unicorn or The Flying Spaghetti Monster. And suddenly I heard two knocks on the door. This being a boys' boarding house, knocking is almost non-existent, and privacy is as elusive as Elmo's penis, I was surprised that someone actually bothered to knock on the door. And who should it be but Pill all the way from Oxford opening the door. I was surprised to say the least, though I didn't think I showed the full enormous scale of my shock. I mean, Oxford is at least (and this is if you're very lucky) 2 hours by train, and 3,456 years by foot. I wouldn't expect her to make the day trip. This isn't even the first time she did it. She came for my 20th birthday (with a few other people, thanks guys :D) to surprise me. And this was when we weren't yet together.

Back to the story. Sorry if you're already bored. Haha. Skip this blog if you're not into reading the daily lives of people. I know I'm not. Heh.

Seeing as she was there, I reluctantly showered so that I didn't smell of sleepy sweat and stale saliva. And I had a lesson soon. But hey, the FSM might have favoured me that day, as I got a PR (private reading - or as we like call it, private recreation) for Chemistry. Realising what a gem this was, me, Pill and Geo decided to go to town.

And it all went from there. Had lunch at Ask with Farah and Adri. Then some quality private time with Pill. Then Pill went back on the 7.22pm train. And so went for a meal at The Curry House:

I have never had anything spicier (possibly) than the Veggie Vindaloo I had then. Mubin, Farah, Adri and Chiao got a taste of it, and most of them almost cried. I think the Curry House must have made a really tidy profit because we were ordering Coke every 3 minutes or so.

To end this probably very tedious and boring read, I would just like to say... Happy birthday Adri!

The Shrewsbury Shoe

The couple in question:

There's something wrong with Blogger. Mine at least. The posting time is several hours behind. Which is kinda annoying. I'm not sure how to fix it. Someone tell me. Please.

Anyways, yesterday we, in a (almost) vain attempt to surprise Adri, got surprised ourselves. Here's the lowdown. Okay. We were supposed to meat at the bazaar near Starbucks, and me and Farah was supposed to sneak up on Adri, but we couldn't find where they were. Being the stealthy sneaking sneaks we are, we tried to find him amidst all the people and the tents.

Thinking he was in Starbucks, we sneaked towards the overpriced coffee haven. But here's the funny part. Adri and the others were sitting on a bench watching us sneaking to Starbucks. All the way. So we ended up being surprised by them.

The meal at Pizza Express was good. The Padano pizza was amazing. I don't usually like onions, but the onions on the pizza were... Haha. It was sweet, and went really well with the goat's cheese. I do love goat's cheese.

Then we went to the Quarry for the Shrewsbury Regatta. Seriously, there must've been hundreds of boats there. We watched the Second VIII cruise this one boat by a few lengths. And I don't mean to brag, but our school is absolutely amazing at rowing. Our 1st and 2nd VIII both won their categories in the nationals (yes, all of England). Our 2nd VIII is better than many 1st VIIIs from other schools.

And oh, the 1st VIII beat Queen College, Oxford yesterday, I think. I'm pretty sure thst's worth mentioning.

The Bruneian Shrewsbury Posse very much getting into the action at the Shrewsbury Regatta:

Wistful Pillow Fights

So it's Wednesday. So it's a bit late for an update on how my weekend was. So this. So that.

Well, my weekend was brilliant. Spent with Pill, again. Thorpe Park was amazing. There's some really good rollercoasters that will blow your mind.

There's one called Stealth, that starts from a standstill to 80mph in under 2 seconds, and before you realise how fast you're going the rollercoaster suddenly goes up just over 200 feet and then you plummet back down. It's ridiculously fast and intense.

There's another called Colossus, and suggested by the name, is absolutely immense. You're basically just rolling around a loop every split second. I think it's got the world record for most inversions, as they say it. Which says something.

Nemesis Inferno is a bigger, badder version of Nemesis in Alton Towers. It's absolutely intense. Too bad we couldn't take our shoes off for the ride. It would've felt amazing if we could feel the wind crashing on our feet as they dangle under the coaster.

Me & Pill got absolutely soaked after riding Tidal Wave. Apparently 3 tonnes of water were forced into the air as the boat hits the bottom. It explains a lot. This is much, much better than the Waterfall in Jerudong Park. Waterfall has nothing on Tidal Wave. Tidal Wave really feels like you're being attacked by a waterfall. I had to take off my shirt and just wear my jacket with nothing inside. The water was so cold.

The shittiest ride was X:/No Way Out. It's supposed to be a backwards in-the-dark rollercoaster. Great on paper, but in practice, it was shit. It stopped every 20 seconds, which stopped the flow of adrenaline. And the loops were non-existent. I think in terms of in-the-dark rollercoasters, Disneyland's Aerosmith Rock 'N Roll was way better, even though it wasn't backwards.

Thorpe Park is amazing. Me & Pill have already bought the tickets for next time, and guess what, this time it's only £10 each. And it's open, so we can go anytime we want. When they said Thorpe Park is the thrill capital of England, they weren't being funny.

By the way, I got myself a new monitor. And a wireless desktop.

Sorry you can't see the wireless keyboard. You can still see my laptop, which basically has become just a PCU really. It's where I plug all my USB and stuff, and switch it on. I don't even have to have the lid open anymore. Except of course when I switch it on or use the webcam.

Yes, I think the monitor is amazing. Acer X222W it is. Yes, tech-jargon. Who wants that. All I need to know was that it's only £150, 22 inches, and is amazing for working (yes, I do work) and watching films.

I know I spend a lot of money. But most of the time I never regret my money-spending, wasting ways. This is one of those times. And the Thorpe Park trip wasn't bad either.

One Night Dance

It's the penultimate day to the end of Easter holidays, and to be honest, it's been a pretty mixed three and a half weeks.

It's been a very intense Easter, really. The good, the bad, and the unimaginables. I don't know. It's certainly been the most interesting holiday so far in my two years here. I can never say it was the best. My grandfather's death prevented it from being so. And also the paranoia and the anxiety of things I can't quite elaborate here. I guess in all probability I will never find out for sure if our suspicions were true, but then it's mellowed out a bit, so we're looking forward now.

In my moments of weakness, Pill has been there to pick me up. Three weeks with her has been truly amazing. I don't really want to think that tomorrow is the last day until we meet again three weeks later.

And then, there're our exams. Mine will determine whether I'll live in London or York. Wow. York. Haha.

I guess York will be good for me. Away from the judging eyes, from the scrutinising Bruneian gossipers.

Blame Everyone For The Unsaid Disaster

It's been a good, relaxing weekend. Of course that weekend has not taken into account of the fact that I'm on monitor duty tonight, which is the second crappiest thing to do at 9.30 at night, the first being kicking a bunch of bricks barefooted.

So how was the weekend?

As always, on Saturday, I only had one lesson, and Woodling is such a funny little character. Try closing your ears and just watch him. He is the single funniest moving thing you could ever observe that is unintentionally ridiculously hilarious. If you're lucky, he could be trying to emphasise a point by raising three of his limbs into the air. Yes, two arms and a right feet, It's much funnier than it sounds here. I promise you, it is as much a distraction from Chemistry as his red herrings involving tennis and jet engines.

Then that night, we went to Ridgemount's house dance, or Sci-Fi Convention. Kamillin invited me, by the way. Thanks for that. James Lyons is a great DJ, but I'm not sure why that night his tracks kept scratching and skipping. I'm not even talking turntables scratching. I mean the fucked up kind. I enjoyed myself though. But it took a while because all I kept thinking all night was that I would've enjoyed it oh so much more if Pill was there. I enjoyed Severn Hill's house dance more even though it wasn't very good simply because Pill was there. So that made it infinitely better.

I came as Neo by the way, from The Matrix. Quite easy to go as really. Never mind that there were two more Neos and an Agent Smith around.

Today, as usual, we had the weekly Shrewsbury Bruneian Posse Brunch. Haha. Ha. It just so happened that there was Easter Sunday chapel and the Eton Fives national championship, meaning more fresh food, meaning fresh hash browns. Which in turn meant a full plate for me.

We decided to play basketball after that, only to be greeted by the sight of Ingrams running into the gym with footballs and rugby balls. Of course we reached a compromise and played against them in football.

Ah. Good times.

I fucking missed Tea. I'm starting. If I wasn't vegetarian, I could eat a horse. Haha. Not that there are any horses around.

EDIT:

But then I decided to ask Mubin for a couple of Indo Mee. Couple that with some orange juice, and you've got a simple recipe for a somewhat filling yet strangely unsatisfying dinner.

The most interesting that happened today was the Assassins duel between Geo and Leo. Geo represented Severn Hill, and Leo, Oldham's. We agreed to meet Oldham's in front of KH, where there's that pathway to the other side, near the Bursary.

The rule was that there will be 30 seconds for both duelist to run away, but there is a designated area that they cannot go outside of. After thirty seconds, the shooting starts.

There was no contest. Geo had a normal water gun. Leo had a fire extinguisher, which meant he had an obscene range, and he could go on spraying without losing pressure. Geo lost after what was maybe a couple of minutes. Too bad.

The Overreaction Of An Understatement

The weekend is over. We're back in school, and already I'm looking forward to the Easter break. Now, officially, we only have at the most five weeks of lessons time left. Including next term. How amazing does that sound? Five weeks and A' Levels over and done with. No more 3,000-worders to be done three hours before the lesson. Of course I haven't mentioned the exams. And the 10,000-worders (probably more) in Uni. But from what I've heard, there aren't too many lectures for the English course. I've heard something as ridiculous as two lectures a week, which would just be amazing.

So how was my weekend, that's the question everyone asked me today. Of course I only greeted it with the polite response of 'it was good. How was yours?' and then not actually bothering to hear how the person's weekend went.

But if I bothered to answer your question properly, it would be an extended version of that. This is how it would go.

'It was good, thanks. I went to London, stayed in Brunei Hall. Went to see Pill, which is always a treat. This time we didn't intentionally get lost anywhere in London, but it was fun nonetheless. It was great. Then there was the ICUBS Brunei Night, which, to be honest, was complete balls.'

I'd take a short pause and then,

'The acting was poor, the jokes were recycled garbage that failed to be funny after the second time being told. The standards were close to that of a high school production. Not much better, really. Probably the only few good bits were the dancing, especially the modern dance. The traditional dance was a bit messy and out of sync. The sound editing was horrible. The stage management, the lights, it was amateur. I mean, I've seen much better performed, much funnier and more professional plays written and directed by high school 16-year-olds.'

'I'm pretty sure they worked hard at it. And I appreciate that. But...'

'It was overacted... Poorly. The diction was unclear at times, and the plot was absolute nonsense.'

And then I would remark on how mean of me to say that, but I wouldn't apologise because I'm allowed to criticise, aren't I?

I went to that because I thought it would be good seeing a theatrical performance by Bruneians. I'm not saying that all Bruneian productions are automatically bad. I've seen some pretty good ones. But I expect better from a bunch of Uni students. Much better.

Half Of This Was Away With Half Of Me

So how was your half-term?

Shut up. I don't want to hear about it. Instead you're gonna hear about mine.

For both weekends, I stayed in Oxford, and spent most of my time there with my pill. Which was brilliant. I enjoyed myself so much with her. I can't wait for her to come to our house dance :D

The rest of it was alright. The weekdays were spent in sunny London. Yes, I'm not actually being sarcastic here. London was indeed sunny. Sunshine and sunny rays. Sweeties and sugar days. Spent the day before Valentine's playing football with the lads. Heh. That was actually really quite fun. Of course playing for four straight hours gave me a really bad headache and a really sleepy head that felt as heavy as an anvil strapped to a cow. With three fat (sorry, I meant clinically obese) Americans on its back shouting "Yippe-Kay-Yay."

Of course when I was about to have a pre-sleep lunch, one of the cleaner ladies told me my brother was in the hospital, and out of obligation I had to stagger my way to St. Mary's hospital. Feeling probably worse than my brother, who was actually on the hospital bed having a nice little nap, I had to sit there for a couple of hours doing nothing, waiting for the doctors to actually find out what the hell was happening with him.

Almost dead, I excused myself for a few hours, saying I haven't eaten anything but dirt from playing football, which was actually true (Well...). It was an hour before I came back to the hospital, with Churn, Faiz and Deebs. If it wasn't for Deebs, I would've injected myself with morphine out of boredom, though I'm not sure how that would help. Then there was this curious guy who kept talking to me about football because I was wearing an Italian football jacket.

"Waff wafff Italy waff waff wishy waff World Cup 2012 waff England" was all I heard at first. Of course I didn't have the heart (or the balls) to tell him he was wrong, that there won't be a World Cup in 2012 (it's in 2010 and 2014) or that it wasn't in England. Then I pretended to understand what he was saying, and I managed to get away with it.

"Waff waff boosh waff Italy win waff Cup waff England not winning waff waff south african team maybe waff waff" he said. So I replied:

"Ah yes, but I think the Italian team is way too old, and some of them might have retired by then." To which he grumbled and mumbled out of grudge because I actually knew a thing or two about the Italian team.

Did virtually fuck-all for Valentine's. I did plan something for the pill, but by that stage it wasn't my job, it was the girls from Headington's job. I just giggled in the corner of the lobby wondering how well it's going, proud for having thought of such a plan.

I can't wait for March 1st.

Pill Weekends

I had a really good weekend. Spent it with my pill. The trouble I got into for leaving early, the money I had to spend for the ticket, it was worth it :)

Talking about the trouble, it was shit. I had to be at the housemaster's private side at around 6.45am this morning. Oh, yes. The early hours. Usually it wouldn't be too bad, because we usually wake up around 7 anyway, but we were out the night before for Sam's birthday meal (which was a good laugh, by the way) and hung over on curry. Hahaha. And it ruined my first Tuesday double PR in the first two lessons. Oh, well. All for missing some lecture about some guy who climbed some mountain called Everest. And for a few extra hours with my pill. Well worth it.

It's a good thing half-term is next week. Oh, jeez. Hahaha.

I find things going really well at the moment. Or even if they went wrong, they can't keep my hopes down. I think it's a combination of oh-my-jeez-I-have-so-many-PRs, Arrr-be-a-pirate, and hi-there-pill.

The Idea Of Your Will

It's annoying that my phone is being barred from making outgoing calls or sending texts. Stupid overused phone bill. I think I will still be barred until March or April. I can't afford to pay it right now. Oh, well. Stupid me. Haha. Ho. So let that be a warning. If you want to contact me, call me. Don't text me. I won't (read: can't) reply. You have been informed. Text me and I'll send you a pipe bomb. With love. Just text me your address too.

I found myself being hungry yesterday during brunch, so I scooped a mountain of hash browns onto my plate, and when I got to the table I realised how much food there was on my plate. I thought to myself (out loud), "I'm not gonna finish that." But I did. I didn't know why I needed to tell that. Oh, and Adry, Kam, Mubin and Chiao was there too, telling me how much food I had.

Any more random happenings?

Uh, oh. Urm... Nothing, really. Nothing that I wanna tell to you puny human beings (note the plural, you). Haha. Ha. Ho.

Anyways, it's Kam's birthday. Happy 19th birthday, you human being. You still owe us a movie. Muahahaha. It was also the twins' birthday yesterday. Fiiyah and Fiizah, happy birthday :)

Updates on Venice photos and Winter photos. More added :)

I'm in Venice right now, and I'm enjoying it. The rest have gone out shopping today, so in order to keep myself from spending, I've stayed in the apartment.

Narrow Streets

I'm walking through the streets of Venice, along the riverbank, overseeing the gondolas. And then I see a bridge.

The bridge is larger than the other bridges. But that might just be because I haven't seen all the bridges in Venice.

I don't know.

I have never been to Venice before.

The wind is cold. The sun is shining. The streets are narrow.

And then I realise, we're stuck here for another three days.

Two Hundred And Fifty Reasons

I was expecting a half-asleep day today, considering that I got back from London at around midnight (five fuckin' hours to get back last night), that I barely had any sleep the day before, and that we were basically standing for four hours doing nothing in the meet-and-greet.

But then, things are looking up. For my double english, I only had ten minutes till my teacher decided to let us go because too many of us were off to interviews. So today, I only have a grand total of two lessons. My other English lesson with Doc Law might still be a beef, since we finished Shakespeare for the term. And I've got 1st Leagues to look forward to this afternoon.

But I still have this minor headache that's ever-present. Sometimes it just manages to take my attention away from what I was doing, and for about a minute I'd just be totally detached from everything.

I've got an e-mail from UCL asking me to write two essays for them by next week. It's a particularly hard essay, but I've got such a busy schedule this week, I probably can only start once the holidays start, which is this friday. I'm still partial to whether I'm gonna go to Christmas school dinner. It should be worth going, but...

I need this holiday really bad.

This Ride Is For All Ages

After Warwick's most anti-climactic e-mail (we will consider your application after blah de blah...), I was feeling a bit wary of the UCAS e-mail I got last night when I was in Headington. Urm, yes. I was in Farah's school :D It was a surprise visit, and I spent a few hours there going around the school. I even had supper in their dining hall. It did feel extremely weird being the only guy. And oh, I happened to be in the same room as Emma Watson and did not fucking notice her until Farah pointed it out much, much later. Hahahahahahaha.

Anyways, what I wanted to talk about was that I got an offer from York last night. My first offer so far, and it's not bad. The grades are ABB, and it says nothing about getting an A for English, which is a bit of a relief.

By the way, I'm staying at Hanif's place at the moment, and I've got his place all to myself for the night because he's gone to London. Hahahaha. Oxford is too claustrophobic for me. It just feels so gloomy and... Enclosed... Maybe it's because it's winter, and maybe it's because I'm so used to the wide open spaces in Shrewsbury.

I woke up at 6am. I hate it when I wake up early during the holidays. Usually I just grab some breakfast and then go back to sleep, but I've decided against it this morning. One, because I don't fucking know where I can buy anything at 6:34am in the morning. I know there's a Sainsbury's somewhere, but it's not exactly next door.

I'm tired.

The Sun Thought I Had Something To Do With It

I don't know why I'm having trouble uploading this year's house singing videos. It's a shame too. The singing is brilliant. I'll try again soon.

Anyways, life has been not too bad in Shrewsbury, but it's getting a bit too frosty at the moment. We've been reaching the minuses in terms of temperature for the past few mornings and nights. It's bloody fucking cold, and I've abandoned my flip-flops and three-quarters because it's fucking freezing. I need to buy gloves. Red gloves.

I'm going to Oxford tomorrow, right after breakfast. Risky move, since it's almost certainly flippin' chilly. And oh, for the past few days, the hot showers are - simply put - not hot at all. Imagine, coming back from a hard-fought match against the staff, the horror of having a cold shower. Fucking outrage, I tell you.

And oh, what a match we had against Ridgemount. We were 3-0 down at one stage, but we managed to win 6-5, yours truly scoring the final equaliser in the last ten minutes, minutes before our winner. Of course, Ridgemount were taking the piss, to be honest. And it didn't help that some of our players had already given up by the third goal.

I need to get out of here for a few days. Oh, wait. Tomorrow is coach weekend. Yippee.

Zero To Twenty With An Overnight Conversion

I don't know why I get depressed over the fact that I've turned twenty. Maybe it's because in school I'm two or three years older than everyone else. Maybe it's the fact that by definition, I'm not a teenager anymore. Or maybe I think suddenly being in the twenties makes me think that I might just have to grow up a little bit and make more effort for the future.

Whatever it is, I still had a great 20th birthday.

It was a surprise as well, because as much as they love me (hahaha), I don't think they'd travel all the way to isolated Shrewsbury just so they could celebrate it. But they did. Thanks Farah, Adeylah, Desiree, Kimy, Adi and Ajeeratul for coming. And also for the Shrewsbury guys, Kamillin, Adry, Mubin, Wafi and Chiao, for well, being in Shrewsbury anyways. Hahahaha.

If you wanna see the photos from that day, click here for my album, and click here for Farah's.

I thought that Saturday (we celebrated a day late) would have no more surprises after the Headington girls and the Oswestry girls left, but I was wrong.

I had joked with my housemates (Geo specifically) that for my birthday he was supposed to get me 52 virgins, one for every week of the year. This is kinda an ongoing joke, this whole virgin thing. Don't worry about the details. Hahaha.

Anyways, what they did was, right after we left my room to go to Ridgemount, Geo covered everything in my room with as many red bedsheets as he could find, and he also covered my light with the bedsheet, so it had this really creepy red light effect. In the photo, you can't see it because I took it off, and I had cleared some of it up. And what else, he spent a good half an hour sticking 52 photocopied photos of Sir Richard Branson, the CEO of Virgin. Quite clever, I think. Hahahaha.

Being used to this kind of stuff from Geo, the first thing I said was 'that's actually really cool.' I wasn't angry or anything. I guess it was too good a day for me to actually mind a little prank. Then again, it's a chance for me to totally get back at him.

Oh, well. Surprises, surprises. You could never get enough of them.

One Over The Other We'll Rush To The Suburbs

I had a good weekend overall. I went with the Shrewsbury Brunei Posse (hahaha) to Cineworld, to watch '30 Days Of Night,' which was a decent enough action/horror film. And guess what I found next to the cinema in place of Burger King?

Nando's! Hahaha. Admittedly I don't eat chicken, but I love the Peri-Peri sauce, and they have some decent vegetarian options there. And I'm a sucker for bottomless drinks. Ashamedly, I like the music they play in the background, be it portuguese or latino or whatever. Heh. There're more reasons for the Oswestry girls (and guy) to come to Shrewsbury every weekend :) Hahaha. Ho.

In the evening, I had to go to the Sydney Carton Society meeting at Rigg's Hall. Yes, it does sound kinda posh, but trust me, it's not. Well, maybe. A little bit. I guess a bunch of people sitting down sipping red wine while talking about novelists and their writing styles is kinda posh, isn't it? Of course, throughout the whole meeting, I didn't have much to say at all. These other guys are heavyweights compared to me. It's amazing how much they can say about a novelist just after five minutes of reading a page. I can barely speak up after reading a whole book.

I guess I'm gonna have to do more next session. Apparently we're supposed to write our own 8000-words stories, and by the end it will all be published, in one form or another. Quite excited about that. That is of course, if I can bother to write anything even at all close to that.

I need to go. I've got a double PR, and I'm not gonna waste it on Multiply. I might as well play FM and get Brunei to win the 2014 World Cup. Only in games. Only in games, unfortunately.

To Us, This Is A Truthful Tragedy

I know everyone's sulking over the fact that half-term is over, and truth be told, I'm bummed out of my mind trying to figure out how the ten days went by so fast. Damn it, it was a good half-term.

So many things happened.Urggh, I don't even know where to start.

I went to Cardiff for my cousin's 22nd birthday bash. That was awesome. Made some new friends, and had some crazy moments that was unforgettable. Hahaha. Mel, if you're reading this, thanks for inviting me :D And wow, Eric. I know you're not gonna read this, so god damn you, you lucky bastard :P

The next day we had to go to the Dorchester hotel for the BSUnion Raya thing, which wasn't too bad. I won a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates for answering the quiz, which got wiped clean before I even got on the bus.

Deylah and Desiree were two people I spent much more time together than I would have thought. Never mind they called me Mu Mu (huh?) most of the time. Hahaha. We stayed up late doing practically nothing telling each other we should go to sleep. That was stupid, I guess :P And oh, when Farah wasn't in London, Deylah was my Sainsbury companion. Hahahaha.

I'll post some pictures of half-term soon. Wait for it.
