Review: Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone!

Album: Hey Everyone!
Artist: Dananananaykroyd
Rating: 4 out of 5
In a nutshell: Addictively enthusiastic pop rock that'll put a smile in your face

Just like the incredibly unnecessary band name, Dananananaykroyd's debut album just wants to make you grin, smile and move around in a frenetic manner.

With two drummers and two vocalists, Dananananananana... Oh wait. Da. Na. Nana. Naykroyd. Let me try that again. With two drummers and two vocalists, Dananananaykroyd (got it!) is never going to be your typical pop rock band. In fact pop rock really just understates their effect on you. Maybe a more apt description would be one they coined themselves, 'fight pop.' Though 'fight' here actually just means one of those friendly yet aggressive, slightly homoerotic wrestles that you have with your mates when you finally discover that there are more fun times to be had than with a Playstation 3.

Dananananaykroyd - Black Wax

The song featured in the video (Black Wax) is probably the mildest in the whole track, and the safest to put into a mainstream audience. It's a misleading track to put as a first single from the album. Imagine if you will Metallica putting a cover by Oasis as their first single. A decent song on its own, it pales in comparison with old favourites such as '1993' or even 'The Greater Than Symbol & The Hash.'

Dananananaykroyd - Pink Sabbath

All of this 'fight pop' is incredibly positive and uplifting. These Glaswegians really know how to rock, and how to do it with a big smile on each of their faces.
